Glendale, CA – Councilwoman Elen Asatryan has received endorsements from several prominent Los Angeles-area Democratic clubs in recognition of her ongoing service to the community. The organizations include the East Area Progressive Democrats (EAPD), Southern California Armenian Democrats (SCAD), Democrats for Neighborhood Action (DNA), Avance Democratic Club, and Crescenta Valley High School Democrats.
“EAPD is thrilled to endorse Elen Asatryan for re-election to the Glendale City Council. Elen leads with clarity, consistency, and intelligence as a champion for public education, dignity and equality for all, and a transition to smart waste policies and clean, affordable energy. Elen is a skilled advocate for human rights, small businesses, honest public safety, and environmental protection. In 2022, she earned the coveted EAPD Heart and Soul Award for her leadership. Elen is a well-trained, effective problem-solver who represents not only the best of our diverse communities, but also a new generation committed to good governance. We urge ALL voters to support and re-elect Elen—our trusted friend and excellent public servant,” East Area Progressive Democrats said.
Asatryan has also earned the unanimous endorsement of the Los Angeles County Democratic Party as announced last week. LACDP is the nation’s largest local Democratic Party—recognizing her leadership on affordability, public safety, and access as well as her dedication to working families, immigrants, women’s rights, environmental justice, small businesses, and marginalized communities.
"The Southern California Armenian Democrats are proud to endorse Elen Asatryan for Glendale City Council. As the first Armenian-American woman elected to the Council, Elen has been a powerful advocate for our community and a thoughtful leader for all Glendale residents, regardless of background. Her work reflects the values of equity, progress, and civic engagement that our organization champions, and we are confident she will continue delivering results for Glendale,” Vlad Minasyan, SCAD President, said.
Councilwoman Asatryan has focused on making city government more accessible, responsive, and inclusive. She has championed:
Affordability, public safety and access
Stronger utility and rental assistance programs for working families
Expanded multilingual access across city services, programs, and communications
Policies shaped through the lens of residents with language barriers, disabilities, and special needs
Improvements to how residents navigate City Hall, especially for those unfamiliar with government systems and those from underserved communities
Uplifting marginalized communities by embedding equity into decision-making
Outreach and education around sustainability programs and public benefits
Councilwoman Asatryan has also been a leader on environmental sustainability and climate resilience, advancing policies that reduce costs for residents, protect public health, and ensure Glendale’s transition to a cleaner future is both practical and accessible.
She has promoted:
A commitment to 100% clean energy by 2035 and taken principled votes against costly, infrastructure—including standing firm as the lone vote against the Grayson Power Plant
Investments in electrification and clean energy, including expanding EV and solar infrastructure and ensuring access for renters and multifamily residents
Expansion of green spaces and park access, including securing land for what will become the largest park in South Glendale
Stronger climate resilience efforts, including tree planting, heat mitigation, and sustainable infrastructure improvements
As an immigrant herself, Asatryan has been a strong advocate for Glendale’s diverse communities, including its vibrant immigrant population.
"Elen Asatryan has demonstrated a clear and consistent commitment to supporting Glendale’s Latino and immigrant communities through both policy leadership and direct community engagement. From advocating for the termination of the city’s ICE detention contract to pushing for expanded language access and more inclusive outreach in city processes, she has worked to ensure that Latino voices are heard and represented. Her efforts to engage students, community leaders, and local organizations reflect a hands-on approach to public service and a track record of advancing equity and access for all residents," Nilza Serrano, President of the Avance Democratic Club said.
Asatryan’s leadership has consistently centered immigrants and working-class families—especially those navigating rising costs, housing instability, and barriers to opportunity.
She has advanced:
Affordable housing and renter protections
Support for small businesses and local economic vitality
Investments in public safety and emergency response systems
Expanded parks, arts, and community infrastructure
“I’m honored to receive endorsements from our local community Democratic organizations in addition to the LA County Democratic Party. During this time in our nation’s history, it is ever more important for us to work together to uplift and unify our diverse communities. I will never stop fighting to ensure that affordability, safety, equity, and access are prioritized on the dais,” Councilwoman Asatryan said.
