GLENDALE, CA — Councilwoman Elen Asatryan has received the official endorsement of the nation’s largest local Democratic Party, the Los Angeles County Democratic Party (LACDP), for her re-election campaign, earning a unanimous vote of support from party delegates.
The endorsement comes on the heels of her recent announcement of support from a broad coalition of federal, state, and regional leaders, along with early endorsements from public safety organizations, including the Glendale Police Officers’ Association and the Glendale Fire Fighters Association—reflecting strong, countywide confidence in her leadership and her commitment to strengthening public safety, fighting for immigrants, working families, small businesses, and marginalized communities.
“Councilwoman Elen Asatryan consistently represents the very best of Democratic leadership—grounded in community, driven by results, and unwavering in her commitment to fighting for working families. At a time when too many are struggling to make ends meet, she is doing the hard work to ensure government shows up for everyone, not just the well-connected. LACDP is proud to support a leader who brings people together, cuts through the noise, and delivers real results for her constituents,” Mia Livas Porter, LACDP Central Committee Chair AD52, and Alton Reed, LACDP Central Committee Chair AD44, said.
“As a proud daughter of immigrants and the first woman of color on the city council, I approach policy through the lived realities of our community—especially those who face barriers to access. Glendale residents and small businesses deserve leadership that goes to bat for them—not just those who have the luxury of showing up to City Hall, but those busy raising their children, running their businesses, putting food on the table, or who feel intimidated navigating government. That means meeting people where they are and making sure City Hall works for real life, not just on paper or through puffed-up rhetoric,” Councilwoman Asatryan said.
“To receive unanimous support from Democrats across Los Angeles County speaks to both our record of results and the values we’ve led with every step of the way. I’m grateful for their support.”
Asatryan has been a leading voice in making city government more accessible, responsive, and inclusive—particularly for residents navigating language barriers, disabilities, special needs, or unfamiliar systems.
She has championed:
Stronger utility and rental assistance programs for working families
Expanded multilingual access across city services, programs, and communications
Policies shaped through the lens of residents with language barriers, disabilities, and special needs
Improvements to how residents navigate City Hall, especially for those unfamiliar with government systems and those from underserved communities
Uplifting marginalized communities by embedding equity into decision-making
Outreach and education around sustainability programs and public benefits
Councilwoman Asatryan has also been a leader on environmental sustainability and climate resilience, advancing policies that reduce costs for residents, protect public health, and ensure Glendale’s transition to a cleaner future is both practical and accessible.
She has promoted:
A commitment to 100% clean energy by 2035 and taken principled votes against costly, outdated fossil fuel infrastructure—including standing firm as the lone vote against the Grayson Power Plant
Investments in electrification and clean energy, including expanding EV and solar infrastructure and ensuring access for renters and multifamily residents
Expansion of green spaces and park access, including securing land for what will become the largest park in South Glendale
Stronger climate resilience efforts, including tree planting, heat mitigation, and sustainable infrastructure improvements
As an immigrant herself, Asatryan has been a strong advocate for Glendale’s diverse communities, including its vibrant immigrant population.
“Glendale is home to the largest immigrant population in California, larger even than the city of Los Angeles,” Asatryan said. “That is our greatest asset. But it also comes with a heightened responsibility to ensure how we communicate, design programs, and deliver services is rooted in access, cultural competency, and inclusion.”
Asatryan’s leadership has consistently centered immigrants and working-class families—especially those navigating rising costs, housing instability, and barriers to opportunity.
She has advanced:
Affordable housing and renter protections
Support for small businesses and local economic vitality
Investments in public safety and emergency response systems
Expanded parks, arts, and community infrastructure
Her approach is grounded in a simple belief: government should not be something people struggle to access—it should actively work for them.
With this unanimous endorsement, Asatryan’s campaign continues to build strong momentum heading into the 2026 election.
