GLENDALE, CA — Councilwoman Elen Asatryan has earned the endorsements of the Sierra Club Verdugo Hills Group, the Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters (LALCV), and the Glendale Environmental Coalition, recognizing her leadership on clean energy, sustainability, and environmental justice.

As Glendale continues its transition toward a clean-energy future, Asatryan has been a consistent advocate for policies that reduce emissions, expand access to sustainable programs, and prioritize the health and well-being of all residents.

“The Sierra Club is proud to support Elen Asatryan for re-election to the Glendale City Council. Elen has demonstrated a strong commitment to environmental leadership and to advancing a clean-energy future for Glendale. She has taken principled stands against new fossil fuel infrastructure, supported policies to electrify city operations and transportation, and worked to ensure that sustainability programs reach, and are accessible by, all communities. Her focus on environmental justice and practical implementation reflects the kind of leadership cities need as we confront climate change,” Kim Allender, Political Chair of the Sierra Club Verdugo Hills Group said.

The Glendale Environmental Coalition also praised Councilwoman Asatryan’s track record of advancing local environmental priorities and ensuring community access to sustainability efforts.

“Councilwoman Elen Asatryan has been a strong advocate for clean energy, increasing the tree canopy, and safe and convenient local public transportation especially the BeeLine,” the Glendale Environmental Coalition said in their endorsement announcement. “In addition to her concerns about bicycle and pedestrian safety, Councilwoman Asatryan ensures that implementation of clean energy is accessible for all, including renters and small businesses, and that community education goes along with new ordinances such as the gas-powered leaf blower ban. The GEC is proud to endorse her for re-election.”

Councilwoman Asatryan has consistently been a leader on environmental sustainability and climate resilience, advancing policies that reduce costs for residents, protect public health, and ensure Glendale’s transition to a cleaner future is both practical and accessible. Her endorsement from the Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters further reflects her strong environmental record and commitment to advancing sustainable policy at the local level.

She has promoted:

  • A commitment to 100% clean energy by 2035 and taken principled votes against costly, outdated fossil fuel infrastructure—including standing firm as the lone vote against the Grayson Power Plant and the Scholl Biogas Plant.

  • Investments in electrification and clean energy, including championing the inclusion of accessible EV chargers and expansion of solar infrastructure while ensuring access for renters and multifamily residents

  • Expansion of green spaces and park access, including securing land for what will become the largest park in South Glendale

  • Stronger climate resilience efforts, including tree planting, heat mitigation, and sustainable infrastructure improvements

“Councilwoman Elen Asatryan has demonstrated the kind of environmental leadership our region urgently needs. She has taken principled stands against costly and polluting infrastructure, championed Glendale’s transition to 100% clean energy, and advanced real investments in electrification, green spaces, and climate resilience,” the LALCV said. “Just as importantly, she understands that environmental progress must be equitable—ensuring that renters, working families, and immigrant communities are not left behind. Her focus on implementation, accountability, and environmental justice sets her apart, and LALCV is proud to support her re-election to the Glendale City Council.”

During her time on the City Council, Asatryan has supported policies to expand renewable energy use, improve active transportation infrastructure, and invest in programs that make sustainability more accessible to working families, renters, and small businesses. She has also emphasized the importance of community education and equitable implementation in ensuring that environmental policies deliver meaningful results.

“I’m honored to receive the support of organizations that have long been at the forefront of environmental advocacy in Glendale and beyond,” Councilwoman Asatryan said. “Addressing climate change requires both bold action and thoughtful implementation. I remain committed to advancing policies that protect our environment, improve quality of life, and ensure that every resident—regardless of background—can benefit from a cleaner, healthier future.”
